LECO Corporation Accessibility Statement

LECO Corporation is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people of all abilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards to ensure equal access to our web applications, digital marketing content, and downloadable technical resources.

Statement Scope

This Accessibility Statement applies strictly to LECO Corporation’s public website (leco.com), digital marketing platforms, web media, and downloadable electronic documentation.

Note regarding physical products and laboratory instrumentation: Compliance frameworks and accessibility features for physical hardware, laboratory instruments, and onboard instrument software are governed separately under specific federal procurement standards, commercial justification agreements, and contractual terms.

Conformance Status & Standards Alignment

We target compliance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA criteria. Conforming to these guidelines helps make web content more accessible to people with visual, auditory, motor, and cognitive disabilities.

Our digital accessibility efforts are structured to align with major global accessibility regulations, including:

  • Section 508 of the U.S. Rehabilitation Act (subparts relating to Web, Software, and Electronic Documents).
  • EN 301 549 and the European Accessibility Act (EAA) as applied to digital channels and public web services.

Known Limitations & Progress Roadmap

While LECO Corporation strives to adhere to WCAG 2.1 Level AA guidelines across all digital media, we acknowledge that certain legacy areas of our website do not yet fully meet these technical standards. We are actively auditing and remediating the following digital resource areas:

  • Document Library (PDFs & Downloads): Some downloadable PDFs, legacy brochures, and application notes in our resource library may lack structural tags, heading hierarchies, or full screen-reader compatibility. We are systematically remediating these documents into compliant PDF formats.
  • Video & On-Demand Multimedia: Some legacy videos and on-demand webinars may lack fully verified captions or transcripts. Where native captions are unavailable, automated captioning and machine translation tools may be enabled as an interim aid while our team works to publish fully reviewed, human-verified transcripts and captions.

Our Commitment: We are actively prioritizing the retrofitting of accurate, human-reviewed closed captions and complete text transcripts across our entire video and on-demand webinar library.

Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 establishes requirements for Electronic and Information Technology (EIT) to be accessible to people with disabilities. EIT includes computer hardware and software, operating systems, telephones, and other telecommunication products.

LECO is a manufacturer of analytical instrumentation for the fields of elemental analysis, mass spectrometry, and metallography. The majority of our applications utilize a computer to analyze, process, and store instrumentational data. These products are primarily designed and manufactured for specialized applications and are installed in those respective environments, such as laboratories, research centers, and universities. They are not marketed, nor are they intended, for the general public.

LECO’s products fall under Federal Supply Group 66, Instruments & Laboratory Equipment and are outside the scope of Section 508 requirements, as shown on our General Services Administration contract.
