Why Choose LECO VX Series

Exceptional Imaging Flexibility
The VX4 and VX5 provide the versatility needed to examine everything from large sample overviews to fine microstructural details. Available with advanced optical configurations and a broad range of magnification options, these systems deliver sharp, high-resolution images for evaluating material structures, defects, fractures, inclusions, coatings, and other critical features. Their flexible imaging capabilities make them well suited for a wide range of metallurgical, manufacturing, and quality assurance applications.

Consistent and Repeatable Analysis
Engineered for stability and repeatability, the VX Series enables users to return to the same imaging conditions with confidence. Consistent magnification, precise stage control, and stable optics support reliable comparisons between samples, helping laboratories evaluate grain structures, feature dimensions, and material characteristics with greater confidence while minimizing variability between analyses.

Streamlined Imaging Workflows
The VX4 and VX5 are designed to simplify routine inspection and documentation tasks. Intuitive controls, smooth stage movement, and efficient focusing allow users to quickly navigate samples and capture the information they need. By reducing setup time and improving workflow efficiency, the VX Series helps laboratories move seamlessly from evaluation to documentation and reporting.

Accommodates Large and Challenging Samples
Inverted microscope designs allow samples to be placed directly on the stage, eliminating many of the size limitations associated with traditional upright systems. Large, heavy, awkwardly shaped, or mounted specimens can often be examined without sectioning, remounting, or additional preparation. This flexibility helps preserve sample integrity, reduce preparation time, and keep the focus on analysis rather than sample handling.

Advanced Illumination and Digital Analysis Tools
The VX Series delivers bright, uniform illumination that enhances image clarity and reveals critical material features with excellent contrast. Optional polarization capabilities further improve visualization of challenging materials and microstructures. When paired with LECO’s PAX-it image management software and digital camera solutions, the VX4 and VX5 become comprehensive imaging and analysis platforms, enabling image capture, measurement, annotation, organization, and report generation within a streamlined workflow. The result is faster access to insights, improved documentation consistency, and more efficient data management across the laboratory.

How LECO VX Series Works
LECO’s VX Series inverted metallurgical microscopes combine precision optics, ergonomic controls, and seamless digital integration to deliver clear, repeatable imaging for microstructure evaluation and documentation. With objectives placed beneath the stage, large or heavy specimens can be placed directly on the platform with minimal preparation. When paired with LECO’s PAX-CAM digital cameras and PAX-it imaging software, the VX Series microscopes become powerful workstations for capturing, measuring, and reporting metallographic data.
The VX4 is designed for efficient inspection of mounted or bulky samples, using its inverted optical layout to simplify setup and handling. A five‑position objective turret supports quick magnification changes from low‑power scans to high‑detail evaluation, while bright LED illumination and a 360° rotating polarizer enhance contrast for features such as grain boundaries, inclusions, and surface variations. Smooth coaxial focusing, an ergonomic mechanical stage, and a wide‑field trinocular head make operation precise and comfortable during extended use.
The VX5 expands analytical capability with multiple observation modes—including Brightfield, Darkfield, Polarized Light, and Differential Interference Contrast (DIC)—allowing users to highlight microstructural features that respond differently to light and contrast techniques. High‑quality optics provide sharp, color‑accurate images across the magnification range, supporting detailed metallographic interpretation. Smart illumination automatically powers down during idle periods, extending service life and reducing energy consumption in busy, multi‑shift laboratories.
