In 1936, Carl Schultz and his business partners established the Laboratory Equipment Company in St. Joseph, Michigan after introducing the first rapid carbon determinator to the iron and steel industry. Since that time, millions of samples around the world have been analyzed using LECO instruments for elemental analysis, thermal analysis, mass spectrometry, and metallography solutions. Throughout this phenomenal growth, LECO has maintained roots in St. Joseph, Michigan, expanding its world headquarters facilities to include over 700 employees in the United States, with hundreds more located around the world.
