Versatile Stereo Optics
Offers a 6.7:1 zoom ratio for detailed 3D imaging at various magnifications, making it ideal for close-up inspections of macro features. The stereo view provides depth perception, which is crucial for examining surface topography (e.g. fractures or tooling marks).
Repeatable Magnification Settings
Built-in click-stop detents on the zoom ensure you can return to set magnifications precisely. This repeatability improves measurement consistency. For example, you can compare grain sizes or defect dimensions under the same zoom level on different days.
Simultaneous Viewing & Imaging
Optical head uses a permanent light splitter that sends imagery to both the eyepieces and an attached camera at the same time. This means you can capture photos or video without flipping levers or disrupting what you see through the eyepieces – streamlining documentation and live demonstrations.

Compact Inverted Configuration
Inverted design means the objectives are beneath the stage, so you can place heavy or large samples directly on top without needing to cut them to size or perfectly level them. This is especially useful for metallurgical mounts, welded coupons, or bulky components – saving sample preparation time and preserving specimen integrity.
High Magnification & Resolution
Equipped with a revolving turret holding four objectives (5×, 10×, 20×, 50× included, with an optional 100×), the VX4 covers a broad magnification range up to 500× (or ~1000× with the 100× lens and 10× eyepieces). This allows users to resolve fine microstructural details (e.g. precipitates or micro-cracks) that lower-power scopes would miss. Switching objectives is quick and supports multi-scale analysis in one session.
LED Illumination with Polarization
5W LED light source provides bright, uniform reflected light with field and aperture diaphragms for control. The built-in 360° polarizer/analyzer set can be engaged to enhance contrast in birefringent materials and reveal features like grain boundaries or inclusions that are hard to see in normal brightfield. The LED produces a cool, stable white light, improving color accuracy and eliminating the heat of older halogen lamps.
Easy, Precise Operation
Includes an ergonomic XY mechanical stage for smoothly scanning across your sample and coaxial coarse/fine focus knobs for fine-tuning the image. The controls are designed for comfort and precision, so users can spend long hours examining samples with minimal fatigue. The trinocular head with 10× wide-field eyepieces provides a large, clear field of view for the user.
