Microscopy Without Limits

The VX Series delivers exceptional clarity and versatility for metallographic and industrial analysis. From stereo zoom to high-magnification solutions, the VX Series combines advanced optics, ergonomic design, and digital integration to meet every imaging need.

Built for precision and durability, the VX Series empowers labs to inspect, document, and analyze with confidence—whether you’re examining macro features or microstructural details. When accuracy matters, the VX Series ensures you see more and achieve more.

Why Choose LECO VX Series

inverted microscope magnification objectives

Exceptional Visual Flexibility

Move seamlessly from low-magnification overviews to detailed inspection. Stereo and compound optical configurations provide true depth perception and high-resolution imaging, making it easy to evaluate surface topography, fractures, tooling marks, and fine microstructural features.

inverted microscope control dials

Consistent Results

Designed for repeatable magnification and stable imaging, ensuring users can return to the same viewing conditions day after day. This repeatability supports reliable comparisons of grain size, defect dimensions, or surface features across samples and over time—reducing variability and strengthening analytical confidence.

Metallurgist using inverted microscope with attached digital display

Efficient Workflow

Smoothly transition between viewing, imaging, and documentation. Simultaneous view-and-capture allows users to record images or video without interrupting live view, while intuitive controls enable fast and precise scanning, focusing, and repositioning of samples. The result is less downtime, smoother collaboration, and more productive analyses.

inverted metallography microscope sample stage

Easily Handle Sample Irregularities

Engineered to handle demanding sample geometries. Robust stands, inverted configurations, and wide ranges of motion allow users to place parts directly on the stage—often without cutting, re-mounting, or extensive preparation. This preserves sample integrity, saves time, and keeps the focus on analysis rather than setup.

Illumination and Digital Tools

Delivers bright, uniform, color-accurate images without excess heat, while polarization capabilities enhance contrast in challenging materials and reveal features invisible under standard lighting. When paired with LECO’s PAX-it imaging software and digital cameras, both microscopes become powerful analytical platforms—enabling image capture, measurement, and reporting in one integrated environment that accelerates insight and documentation.

How LECO VX Series Works

LECO’s VX Series inverted metallurgical microscopes combine precision optics, ergonomic controls, and seamless digital integration to deliver clear, repeatable imaging for microstructure evaluation and documentation. With objectives placed beneath the stage, large or heavy specimens can be placed directly on the platform with minimal preparation. When paired with LECO’s PAX-CAM digital cameras and PAX-it imaging software, the VX Series microscopes become powerful workstations for capturing, measuring, and reporting metallographic data.

The VX4 is designed for efficient inspection of mounted or bulky samples, using its inverted optical layout to simplify setup and handling. A four‑position objective turret supports quick magnification changes from low‑power scans to high‑detail evaluation, while bright LED illumination and a 360° rotating polarizer enhance contrast for features such as grain boundaries, inclusions, and surface variations. Smooth coaxial focusing, an ergonomic mechanical stage, and a wide‑field trinocular head make operation precise and comfortable during extended use.

The VX5 expands analytical capability with multiple observation modes—including Brightfield, Darkfield, Polarized Light, and Differential Interference Contrast (DIC)—allowing users to highlight microstructural features that respond differently to light and contrast techniques. High‑quality optics provide sharp, color‑accurate images across the magnification range, supporting detailed metallographic interpretation. Smart illumination automatically powers down during idle periods, extending service life and reducing energy consumption in busy, multi‑shift laboratories.
