Determining MOSH/MOAH with GCxGC-TOFMS

Mineral oil hydrocarbons (MOH) in food and spices, including MOSH and MOAH, pose potential health concerns and require precise analysis. This application note demonstrates the use of LECO’s Pegasus BT GCxGC-TOFMS to separate MOSH/MOAH from biogenic interferents like terpenoids and polyolefin oligomers in cumin. High-resolution chromatography combined with ChromaTOF software classification ensures accurate identification, improved separation, and reliable confirmatory analysis, overcoming limitations of conventional LC-GC-FID and SPE-GC methods.
